HeiQ introduces its new HeiQ Synbio Dishwasher Detergent, a synbiotic dishwasher detergent that combines probiotics, prebiotics, and surfactants to support cleaning during and beyond the wash cycle, at SEPAWA Congress 2026 in Berlin.
As interest in microbial cleaning technologies continues to expand across home care categories, HeiQ is extending its synbiotic technology platform into dishwashing. Unlike conventional dishwasher detergents that act primarily during the wash cycle, HeiQ Synbio Dishwasher Detergent supports the ongoing breakdown of organic residues in filters, drains, and other internal machine areas after the program has finished. Synbiotics combine beneficial microorganisms with nutrients to kickstart their activity, helping the microorganisms produce enzymes that break down food residues.
The product demonstrated strong cleaning performance across common food soils, including protein-, starch-, milk-, and fat-based residues in controlled dishwasher testing. It contains a minimum of 50 million probiotics per milliliter and is available in 500 mL and 1 L formats.
“Consumers expect a dishwasher detergent to leave their dishes clean. With HeiQ Synbio Dishwasher Detergent, we wanted to add another practical benefit for the home by supporting cleaner filters, drains, and internal machine areas over time,” said Dr. Robin Temmerman, a microbiologist with a PhD in probiotics, who serves as Executive Vice President Life Sciences at HeiQ and General Manager of HeiQ Chrisal in Belgium. “We live alongside microorganisms every day, and many of them perform useful functions. By working with their natural activity, we can support a more balanced home environment.”
Dr. Robin Temmerman will present “Microbial dishwashing: Extending performance beyond the wash cycle with synbiotics” on 14 October 2026 from 09:15 to 09:30 in Room 1 at the SEPAWA Congress.
Visitors can meet the HeiQ team at SEPAWA Congress at booth D501-503 in Convention Hall II throughout the event.
