Microtech Gefell introduces the MV 240 USB, a high-performance, digital ½”-measuring microphone system that takes precise sound level measurement in research, industry, and environmental monitoring to a new level.

The system is complemented by the new Microphoncenter administration software, which enables centralized, efficient management and configuration of all connected measurement microphones.

MV 240 USB – Precision, Flexibility, and Future-Proof Digital Capabilities

The MV 240 USB combines Microtech Gefell’s proven microphone technology with modern digital signal processing. The system offers:

  • Direct USB connection for quick integration into PC-based measurement environments • High-precision ½”-measuring capsule for accurate acoustic measurements
  • Integrated preamplifier and ADC technology for low-noise, linear signal acquisition
  • Plug-and-play functionality without additional hardware
  • Robust, industrial-grade design for laboratory, production, and field measurements

With its digital architecture, the MV 240 USB is ideally suited for applications such as sound level measurement, quality control, machine acoustics, research, building acoustics, and environmental monitoring.

Microphoncenter – Central Administration and Efficient Device Management

The new Microphoncenter software expands the MV 240 USB with a powerful administration and configuration platform. It enables:

  • Centralized device management of all connected MV 240 USB systems • Automatic detection and initialization of measurement microphones
  • Calibration and diagnostic functions for reliable measurement chains • Firmware and configuration management for long-term system maintenance
  • Documentation and export of device settings for audits and measurement reports Microphoncenter significantly simplifies the administration of large measurement systems—ideal for laboratories, test facilities, production lines, and institutes with extensive measurement infrastructures.

Synergy Between Hardware and Software

The combination of the MV 240 USB and Microphoncenter creates a seamless, digital measurement ecosystem. Users benefit from:

  • Quick setup • Reduced complexity • Greater measurement reliability
  • Efficient device management
  • Future-proof update and expansion options

Microphoncenter – Summary

MicrophoneCenter is the management software for MTG microphones with a digital USB interface.

Its simple graphical user interface enables an intuitive workflow for configuring, monitoring, and testing one or more USB microphones connected to a computer.

The software directly analyzes the digital output signal from the microphones as it arrives at the USB interface, allowing it to verify that the signal is being transmitted correctly before it is fed into measurement or recording software.

In MicrophoneCenter, USB microphones connected to the computer are automatically detected and displayed in a list with unique labels.

Selecting a microphone opens a dashboard that clearly displays all microphone settings.

This includes identification parameters such as manufacturer, model, and serial number; hardware and firmware parameters such as processor number and firmware version; and technical parameters such as sampling frequency and polarization voltage.

The input monitoring feature built into MicrophoneCenter displays the microphones’ output signal, as

well as its RMS and peak values.

The microphones’ internal digital signal generators or a sound calibrator can be used as the signal source.

This allows for both an electrical and an acoustic check of the microphone chain.

The microphones’ internal signal generators produce a soundpressureequivalent sinusoidal signal with a frequency of 1kHz and a fixed rootmeansquare value of 1Pa or an adjustable signal amplitude, which also allows for testing distortionfree transmission at full modulation.

Update functions for the software itself + the microphone firmware, as well as features for configuring microphone parameters, keep the systems up to date, ensure future expandability, enable adaptation to specific applications
